Hi!
Exhale is a release of four live tracks that I recorded back in October/November 2020.
After releasing my EP Connect, I wanted to practice jamming with my live set up and release some live videos. These videos were uploaded weekly on my YouTube page - I composed, performed and produced one track and video each week.

Now I'm uploading the tracks here on Bandcamp to document my work during the last months of 2020.

With these tracks, I was exploring how to further incorporate my personal instruments (saxophone, flute and clarinet) into my electronic world. I found a lot of success sampling my instruments with the Elektron Analog Rytm and manipulating the samples within that machine. I also wanted to play my instruments live, and they can be heard occasionally throughout the tracks.

To me, when I listen to this music now, it sometimes sounds tense, aggressive and a little bit heavy. When I look back on my mindset during that period, I can see that the music reflects how I was feeling. The second lockdowns were really coming into force and I was again feeling isolated and cut off from my profession/life of playing live music. In early December, I experienced a burn out and some depression. It was difficult to get up and to do anything during the day. I didn't feel like making music any more, and I had no inspiration. Everything felt dull and lifeless. I managed to get through it and get back on track with my life, but it was (and continues to be) difficult.

I'm excited to be working on a new EP, that is more relaxed, chilled out and reflects my desire to dive deeper into myself. That should be coming out in late spring!

For now, I hope you enjoy listening back to some music made during the dark winter of Covid ;) You can also still find these tracks on my YouTube page!
